BOSTON As part of an on-going effort to recognize exceptional community partnerships in its programming for at-risk children and their families, The Home for little Wanderers (The Home) announced The Teen Prostitution Prevention Project of the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, the winner of the seventh annual A. Keith Brodkin Award.

The Teen Prostitution Prevention Program was nominated for the 2007 award by Lisa Goldblatt Grace, program director of The Home’s My Life, My Choice program. The two programs collaborate closely in their work to provide young people with the skills and knowledge they need to avoid this profoundly destructive form of abuse. The Home offers a ten-week prevention program in group homes and. trains adults who work with youth to recognize the ruthless, manipulative tactics of pimps, and the signs of a girl’s involvement.

"We are very honored to have been chosen for the Keith Brodkin Award," stated Kerry Seitz of The Teen Prostitution Prevention Project of the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Suffolk County D.A.’s Office. "The sexual exploitation of teenagers is an important issue that often goes unaddressed because no one thinks it could exist in their own backyard. We are glad to be able to bring the issue to the forefront and help bring the community together on behalf of these vulnerable young people. "

The annual award was established at The Home in 2001 by the A. Keith Brodkin Foundation and honors Mr. Brodkin’s legacy as a business innovator, community leader and philanthropist. At the time of his death in 1988, Mr. Brodkin was chairman and chief executive office of MFS Investment Management, which oversees the MFS family of mutual funds.
