New York Artist Joins Boston Gallery to Help The Home Tragedies of child abuse and neglect explored through artwork What: Syracuse-based artist, Mary Giehl will explore the tragedies of child abuse and neglect through her artwork on Tuesday, July 24th. The artist will place sculptures of children, at six bus stops throughout the city of Boston. People are invited to “adopt” the Bus Stop Children, made of wax, metal and muslin and take them home. More of the artist’s work will be on exhibit at the Chase Gallery at 129 Newbury Street throughout August. The exhibit includes four more Bus Stop Children, which will be for sale, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting The Home for Little Wanderers, America’s oldest child welfare agency. Mary’s Bus Stop Children are meant to alarm, invoke feelings of compassion and open dialogue within our community. When: The Bus Stop Children will be placed throughout Boston on Tuesday, July 24th, 2007, for one day. Mary Giehl’s exhibit will take place at Chase Gallery.
