Voices & Visions Gala Raises Record $1 million

The Home's annual event attracted an audience of over 900

The theme of this year's art exhibit, "Without a Face," was a powerful display of the many emotions we express using our face.

Boston, MA — The Home for Little Wanderers (The Home) raised a record $1 million last night at its annual gala, Voices & Visions, held at the Westin on the Waterfront. The event, The Home’s most successful to date, attracted an audience of over 900 people and special guests included Barbara and Steve Grossman, Governor Deval Patrick and Rialto chef, Jody Adams.

The Grossmans were honored for their appreciation of the arts and their life-long commitment to the community. Barbara Grossman is a past Presidential appointee to the National Council on the Arts and Steve Grossman is a 2002 Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate and former Chair of the Democratic National Committee.

“We have been impressed and moved by The Home's unwavering commitment to the creative arts and their role in empowering children and enhancing their self-esteem.” said Steve Grossman. “We are proud to have been recognized by an organization whose kindness and sensitivity to the children in its care sets an exemplary leadership standard.”

The Voices & Visions gala featured a powerful exhibit of visual arts and creative writing, expressing children’s “voices and visions” including their hopes and dreams of a brighter future. This year’s theme “Without a Face,” focused on emotions and all art pieces were produced by children at The Home’s Knight Children’s Center in Jamaica Plain.

The event was sponsored by Greenberg Traurig LLP. Main auction items included: a five-night stay in the Cayman Islands; a cooking class for ten with Rialto’s Jody Adams; a Red Sox game with GM, Theo Epstein; and a dinner party for ten, donated by Michael Schlow and Christopher Myers of Radius fame.
