Boston, MA — In a unanimous vote of confidence, The Home for Little Wanderers’ Board has asked, and Joan Wallace-Benjamin has accepted, to return to her prior position as The Home’s President and CEO effective mid-May.

“For four years Joan did an exemplary job as CEO for The Home,” said Chairman of the Board, John Hailer. “We were sad to see her go, not only for her work with children, but also because of the great working relationship she had with the Board. Her passion and the Board’s passion for helping children is what brought her back to The Home. Hailer continued, “We did a national search for a new CEO and received over 150 resumes. Certainly there was a stellar pool of candidates, but ultimately Joan was, and is, our strongest candidate. She knows The Home. Her vision is in alignment with the Board's and her return will help us move forward and achieve our goals of being the strongest and best provider of child and family services in the state.”

“I am honored to have been recruited back to The Home as its leader,” said Wallace-Benjamin. “ Joining the Patrick/Murray team as the Chief of Staff to Governor Patrick was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and one that made a contribution to the beginning efforts to build a state government reflective of the Governor's goals and commitments to its citizens. However, my work at The Home on behalf of the state's most vulnerable children and their families is where my heart and passion lie, and I am grateful for the chance to return to that important work. I look forward to my continued partnership with the Board and staff of The Home.”

“Joan has done a tremendous job, both with the transition and during the first few months of the administration, helping to build our staff, achieve our first 100 days accomplishments and get the administration off to a strong start," said Governor Patrick. “I appreciate her hard work and dedication to public service, and wish her all the best as she returns to a place that she loves.”
