Home for Little Wanderers Announces Public Awareness Campaign

Partnership with Big City Publishing/Angels from the Attic

BOSTONBig City Publishing, an educational children’s media company and the creators of Angels from the Attic, is joining forces with The Home for Little Wanderers to make a difference in the lives of children. The joint effort will include a unique year-long public awareness campaign that launches on August 1st. Through storybooks, coloring/activity books, coloring page contests, artwork, and an animated public awareness video — all featuring The Angels from the Attic — the campaign will teach children how they can help those who are less fortunate.

Big City Publishing and Angels from the Attic co-founder Mark Marderosian is excited about this partnership. “We are proud to have the Angels from the Attic act as ambassadors for the Home for Little Wanderers. Encouraging and teaching children to care about and help others is at the heart of what we do.”

Lisa Rowan-Gillis, Vice President of Development and Public Relations at The Home for Little Wanderers, agrees that teaching children to make a difference in their communities early in life is an invaluable lesson. “We’re thrilled to be working with Big City Publishing. Their Angels from the Attic will reach children through these fun projects and stories, as well as their drawing series, Drawing with Mark,” she said. “The messages that the Angels from the Attic will be communicating are entertaining for children and we hope that parents, families, and teachers will use them as an opportunity to speak with kids about their meaning and as a teaching tool for community service projects.”

As the nation’s oldest and one of New England’s largest child and family service agencies, providing the best, most caring, and most responsive services is at the heart of The Home for Little Wanderers’ mission.

During the next several months, coloring contests will be rolled out in conjunction with some of The Home’s key special events including:

  • August 1, 2010 – Backpack Drive
  • September 30, 2010 – Pumpkin Painting/Halloween
  • November 1, 2010 – Coat Drive
  • December 1, 2010 – Big Wishes Gift Drive
  • January 15, 2011 – Heart/Valentine’s Day
