The Home for Little Wanderers Welcomes Peter Evers New Vice President for Program Operations brings extensive experience in the social services field
BOSTON, MA — The Home for Little Wanderers, the oldest child welfare agency in the nation and one of the largest in New England, is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Evers, M.S.W., as Vice President for Program Operations. Evers brings extensive experience in the social services field, including positions that have involved residential care, group care, adoption and foster care, sexual abuse and domestic violence. In this new role, Evers will oversee all of The Home’s twenty-one programs that work to better the lives of some of Massachusetts’ most vulnerable children and families. “Peter understands that the environment of child welfare programs is changing,” explains Joan Wallace-Benjamin, President and CEO, The Home for Little Wanderers. “His experience, knowledge and commitment will steer The Home to the next level, as the shift away from previously favored residential programs to in-home and community-based services gains momentum.” Prior to joining The Home for Little Wanderers, Evers was the Southeastern Area Director of the Department of Mental Health. In this role he oversaw three hospitals, three community mental health centers and three case management offices, providing an array of inpatient acute and continual care and outpatient services to people with mental illness. Evers was educated in England, graduating from the University of South Yorkshire with a B.A. in Economics and Business Studies, specializing in Human Resource Management. His Masters in Social Work, specializing in Psychology, Sociology, Social Policy and Psychotherapy, is from the University of Kent. He is a licensed clinical social worker both here and in Britain and is also a licensed alcohol and drug counselor.
