Young Artists Create 2011 Calendar to Support The Home

Celebrate the Imaginative Spirit of Children Throughout the Entire Year

The Home for Little Wanderers, the nation’s oldest child and family service agency and one of the largest in New England, unveiled its 2011 Calendar of Children’s Art today. The calendar features masterpieces by youth in several of The Home’s programs and is now available to purchase for $15. All proceeds will benefit the more than 10,000 at-risk children and their families who are served each year by The Home for Little Wanderers’ programs.

2011 Calendar of Children's ArtFrom March’s “Boston in Winter” by 15-year-old Daniel to May’s “Changing of Butterfly” by 7-year-old Elvin, this colorful and vibrant calendar celebrates the imaginative spirit of children and is sure to brighten up anyone’s day!

Many of the youth who come to The Home have experienced abuse and neglect, many struggle with behavioral issues and low self-esteem; almost all are in emotional turmoil with little hope for the future. Introducing these children to creative expression through art has proven to be an extremely therapeutic and valuable tool in their healing process. Visual art not only teaches them various art forms, but also helps them to realize their potential in an academic setting, learn positive ways of self expression and regain their self-esteem.
