Staples Associates Volunteer to 'Spring Clean' at The Home's Longview Farm Program in Walpole

Volunteers from Staples, Inc. to Help Paint, Garden and Landscape

Staples, Inc., the world’s largest office products company, and The Home for Little Wanderers, one of New England's largest, non-profit child and family service agencies, today announced a Staples Volunteer Day at The Home's Longview Farm program in Walpole on Monday, May 16 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Nearly 30 Staples volunteers will lend a helping hand for some spring cleaning projects and updates around the facility.

Staples volunteers will assist with painting, gardening and landscaping at Longview Farm. Founded in 1940, Longview Farm is located on a 160-acre site and today offers residential treatment for at-risk boys aged 10 to 18 and a private special education school. Services include individualized treatment plans, a year-round outdoor education/adventure program, psychological and educational evaluations and assessments, and pre-vocational training. The boys also have an opportunity to learn about agriculture by growing a vegetable garden.

"Longview Farm is a critical residential program that allows youth to successfully transition back to their families or go on to independent living," said Joan Wallace-Benjamin, Ph.D., president and CEO of The Home for Little Wanderers. "Support received from the Staples volunteers will enable us to enliven Longview for spring and provide about 30 at-risk youth with a safe and vibrant environment to learn and grow."

"As a member of the Staples Real Estate team, I thought a volunteer event would be not only a great bonding experience, but a tremendous way to give back to our community," said Jenice Tom, senior real estate research analyst for Staples, Inc. "Our team of nearly 30 enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers looked for an organization whose mission aligned with the Staples Foundation and discovered The Home for Little Wanderers' Longview Farm was a perfect fit."

This volunteer event will contribute to Staples' goal of having associates give back to their communities by volunteering a total of 250,000 hours this year in celebration of the company's 25th anniversary.
