Summer Social to Benefit The Home for Little Wanderers

Boston (May 20, 2011)— The Home for Little Wanderers’ Young Professionals Group is hosting its first Rooftop Summer Social at blu Restaurant at The Sports Club/LA, 4 Avery Street, Boston on Thursday, June 16, 2011 from 6-10 p.m. The rooftop fundraising event overlooking the Boston Common will feature a raffle, silent auction, and plenty of time to network with other young professionals from the Boston area. Money raised from the event will support The Home for Little Wanderers.

“It’s wonderful to see the city’s emerging leaders giving back,” said Joan Wallace-Benjamin, President and CEO of The Home for Little Wanderers. “Non-profits like The Home are seeing an increasing trend of 20- and 30-something young professionals who grew up in safe and supportive environments wanting to help those who are less fortunate. Many grew up in households where volunteering and philanthropy played an important role, so it’s great to see them continuing to help others through their own fundraisers, volunteering, and encouraging their friends to get involved.”

As one of New England’s largest child and family service agencies, The Home touches the lives of more than 7,000 each year by providing residential, community-based and prevention programs, direct care services and advocacy to children and families living in at-risk circumstances throughout Eastern Massachusetts.

“Blu is excited to partner with an organization that has such a long history of making a difference in the lives of at-risk youth,” said Young Professionals’ committee member Tara Borawski, Catering and Events Manager of blu Restaurant. “While the Summer Social is a great opportunity for young professionals to come together to network, we hope that it will also encourage them to find ways to support the causes that are important to them.”

Tickets for The Home for Little Wanderers’ Young Professionals Rooftop Summer Social are $50 in advance / $60 at the door and include light hors d’oeuvres and three complimentary drink tickets towards beer or wine. For additional information or to purchase tickets, visit www.thehome.org/rooftop.
