Help The Home for Little Wanderers and WCVB-TV Stuff-a-Truck

Campaign Drives to Make the Holidays Brighter for Children and Families Living in At-risk Circumstances

The Home for Little Wanderers and WCVB-TV Channel 5 are are challenging the community to Stuff-a-Truck full of holiday gifts for children and families living in at-risk circumstances on December 5, 2013. Drop off a new, unwrapped toy, gift card or winter coat to the Bernie & Phyl’s trucks parked by Boston Common (corner of Park Street) or Legacy Place in Dedham from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Home for Little Wanderers goal is to collect thousands of donated gifts and toys in a single day to go towards the Big Wishes Gift Drive, helping the children and families in The Home’s programs.

“WCVB-TV, their staff, and their viewers are committed to giving back to the community,” said Joan Wallace-Benjamin, President and CEO, The Home for Little Wanderers. “The Home for Little Wanderers is honored to be the station’s partner for this fourth year of its holiday Stuff-a-Truck campaign. Each year, the outpouring of the support from individuals and businesses has allowed us to make the holidays brighter for some of the state’s most vulnerable children and families while raising awareness about how The Home’s programs and services are doing whatever it takes to help them thrive and succeed during some of the hardest times in their lives.”

For donors who are unable to drop off a gift in person, The Home has launched a virtual Stuff-a-Truck on its website at www.thehome.org/stuffatruck where donors can make an online donation.

Over the past few years, many of The Home’s 600 employees have seen an increasing need for holiday assistance from clients who are served by the agency’s residential and community-based programs across Eastern Massachusetts. Many make holiday requests for essential items including personal hygiene products, coats, socks, linens, and gift cards from stores like Target, Stop & Shop and CVS. As an organization that touches more than 7,000 lives each year, The Home relies on generous assistance from donors and sponsors. Every effort, no matter how small, will help a child or teenager in need.
