Lynn Resident Goes the Extra Mile to Help Kids

Laura Padolsky runs 118th Boston Marathon for The Home

After a long winter of training, Lynn resident Laura Padolsky is counting down the days until she runs the 118th Boston Marathon to support one of her favorite local charities. The Marathon is more than just another race; it’s a chance to finish what so many runners started last year. When Padolsky, 28, arrives in Hopkinton on April 21, 2014, she’ll be putting her best foot forward with the goal of raising $10,000 for The Home for Little Wanderers’ programs which support more than 7,000 children and families across Boston and Eastern Massachusetts each year.

While Padolsky began running casually eight years ago, today she is proud to have taken up the sport more competitively and has many races under her belt. The 118th Boston Marathon marks her second trek from Hopkinton to Boston on Patriots Day. While she ran 12 races as part of her local YMCA’s road race series, her second Thompson Island 4K Trail Run and her third JP Morgan Corporate Challenge race with Pioneer Investments in 2013, this will be her first time running the Boston Marathon for The Home for Little Wanderers. The race comes at a busy time of the year, as Padolsky is getting married five days after the Marathon!

Laura was inspired to run for The Home after volunteering at with the non-profit agency. “Many kids in The Home’s care are going through some of the most difficult times. Through the community’s generous support, The Home’s staff is able to provide important programs to help youth thrive and succeed,” she said.
