WGBH Digital Mural Welcomes The Home for Little Wanderers to Brighton

Display features historic photos and big names to recognize the non-profit's mission to help some of the state's most vulnerable youth

Boston (August 11, 2014) — If you’re planning to take the Mass Pike Eastbound towards Boston on Friday, August 15th, take a moment to glance up at the WGBH digital mural. Friday’s digital mural welcomes The Home for Little Wanderers (The Home), to its new headquarters in the WGBH Building at 10 Guest Street in Brighton. The mural will feature four images throughout the day that represent The Home’s rich history and legacy as the nation’s oldest and one of New England’s largest child welfare agencies. The selection includes:

  • Two black and white images, circa 1920 and 1940, of youth who were placed at The Home’s former landmark facility in Jamaica Plain, which had roots dating back to an orphanage.
  • Two current color images highlighting The Home’s commitment to helping children thrive and succeed. The images feature Boston Bruins’ star Gregory Campbell supporting The Home’s Wellness Initiative and New England Revolution kickers Kelyn Rowe and Stephen McCarthy motivating youth to do well in school.

Owned by WGBH, Boston’s leading public television and radio broadcaster and the nation’s top content producer for PBS, 10 Guest Street is part of WGBH’s studios and foundation headquarters, a two-building, 330,000-square-foot complex within the Boston Landing mixed-use development. The Home relocate 75 staff from its executive and administrative offices from its Huntington Avenue location next to Symphony Hall to the 18,000 square foot space at Guest Street in late July.
