Adoption and Foster Care by LGBTQ+ Families

The Home for Little Wanderers welcomes lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQ+) couples and individuals, regardless of marital status, to be considered as foster and adoptive parents. We recognize and value the unique strengths that LGBTQ+ people and those with intersecting identities bring to the process of parenting. We are aware that historically LGBTQ+ adults have not always felt welcome to adopt and foster youth; The Home seeks to eliminate systemic barriers while supporting LGBTQ+ people in the process of building families.

When it comes to choosing a social service agency, potential parents have many options and The Home for Little Wanderers is proud that our mission and commitment to improving sensitivity and expertise in working with LGBTQ families has led to many successful placements over the decades. We are committed to ongoing learning opportunities in order to best serve our LGBTQ+ families.

Our pre and post Adoption support groups are listed as part of the National Network of LGBTQ+ Family Groups by Family Equality.
