Brain Building in Progress

The Brain Building in Progress (BBIP) campaign is a public/private partnership of the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care, United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley and a growing community of early education and child care providers, academic researchers, business leaders and individuals. Its mission is to raise awareness of the critical importance of fostering the cognitive, social and emotional development of young children by emphasizing its future impact on economic development and prosperity for everyone in Massachusetts. BBIP welcomes the business, education, and policy-making communities, as well as members of the media to be part of this crucial venture. By giving a strong start to our youngest citizens, BBIP creates a stronger, more prosperous future for all.


Casey Family Programs

Casey Family Programs provides an array of services for children and youth, with foster care as its core. Casey services include adoption, guardianship, kinship care (being cared for by extended family), and family reunification (reuniting children with birth families). Casey is also committed to helping youth in foster care make a successful transition to adulthood. As a direct service operating foundation, Casey Family Programs does not make grants.

The Coalition for Community Schools

The Coalition for Community Schools works toward improving education and helping students learn and grow while supporting and strengthening their families and communities. Community schools bring together many partners to offer a range of supports and opportunities to children, youth, families and communities -- before, during and after school, seven days a week. 


Massachusetts Association of 766 Approved Private Day Schools

Massachusetts Association of 766 Approved Private Day Schools (MAAPS) is a non-profit association of Chapter 766 approved private schools dedicated to providing educational programs and services to students with special needs throughout Massachusetts.

Membership in MAAPS signifies a commitment to excellence and ethical integrity. MAAPS is concerned that all children with special needs have access to appropriate, high quality educational experiences and that children and their families have knowledge of the rights, policies, procedures and program options which make the educational process a productive reality for special needs children. 


The Massachusetts Children's Trust Fund

The Massachusetts Children's Trust Fund leads statewide efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect by supporting parents and strengthening families. As an umbrella organization, CTF funds, evaluates, and promotes the work of over 100 agencies that serve parents. Support by state, federal, and private funding, the Children's Trust Fund invests in Massachusetts' most precious resource - children and their families.

National Runaway Switchboard

The National Runaway Switchboard, established in 1971, serves as the federally-designated national communication system for homeless and runaway youth. Recognized as the oldest hotline of its kind in the world, NRS, with the support of more than 150 volunteers, handles an average of 100,000 calls annually more than 3 million calls since the organization’s inception. NRS provides crisis intervention, referrals to local resources, and education and prevention services to youth, families and community members throughout the country 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Over 13,000 youth have been reunited with their families through the NRS Home Free program done in collaboration with Greyhound Lines, Inc.

Office of the Child Advocate (OCA)

The Office of the Child Advocate was created in Chapter 176 of the Acts of 2008, "An Act Protecting Children in the Care of the Commonwealth," to investigate critical incidents involving children receiving services from the Commonwealth, review complaints regarding these services, and work with state agencies to develop inter-agency coordination. The OCA has a special responsibility toward children in the care of the Commonwealth and in helping to resolve the problems of youth in foster care.

The OCA does NOT provide emergency responses to reports of child abuse and neglect. Claims of child abuse or neglect should be reported immediately to the Department of Children and Families Hotline at 1-800-792-5200.
