Clinical Services at the Clifford Academy

Clifford Academy provides a comprehensive therapeutic environment that fosters safety, consistency, and respect for students, families, and staff. All members of staff are trained in the evidence-based practices of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Reactive Attachment Therapy and Trauma Informed Care. Clinicians take a lead role in managing the needs of each student and his/her family. They maintain contact with the family and other caregivers and will attend group conferences, IEP, family and all other meetings involving the student.

Through multi-disciplinary teams of social workers, mental health counselors, psychiatrists, family specialists, and registered nurses, we are able to provide full treatment and support for the social, emotional, behavioral and physical health issues which can arise anytime.

Family Involvement

Clinical services are an integral part of a youth's success at Clifford Academy. Clinicians take a lead role in supporting the needs of each student by providing strength-based individualized care and work closely with their families to achieve individual, educational, and familial goals.

The Home for Little Wanderers’ philosophy asserts that every child and family is unique, each with their own sets of strengths, goals, needs, and circumstances. Our belief is that students and residents will meet greater success when their family, however defined, is actively involved in all aspects of care and treatment. The school provides support and assistance through:

      • Teacher conferences
      • Reviews of standardized evaluation processes and results
      • Report cards
      • Family activities
      • Collaboration with family and sending School District
