As of Monday - June 15th the Thrift Shop is Open. The Shop is no longer accepting drop off donations from our retail store. All donations are by appointment only and on select days.
The Thrift Shop of Boston and The Home for Little Wanderers have partnered to collect, distribute and sell gently used household items to benefit the children and families in our care.
Our donation program is the perfect way to eliminate unwanted items in one easy step. Professional and courteous movers will pick-up furniture and other items at your home*. All donations will receive a tax donation receipt, as well as the comfort of knowing you have helped children and families that are at risk and in need. For donations with a total value of $5,000 or more, a free certified appraisal will be provided.
Some of the donated furniture will support The Home for Little Wanderers’ newly created NewStart program helping to furnish living spaces for children and families in need as well as young adults that are aging out the state’s systems of care and starting their lives as independent members of the community. Other furniture and household goods will be sold in The Thrift Shop. One hundred percent (100%) of The Thrift Shop’s year-end distributions are invested back into the vital programs of The Home for Little Wanderers.

*Free pick-up may be available depending on the volume and quality of furniture in conjunction with other household items and as determined by staff.

Benefiting The Home for Little Wanderers
The Thrift Shop of Boston is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the children and families served by The Home for Little Wanderers.
One of the oldest of its kind in the city, the Thrift Shop has been in business for over 90 years. During that time, the shop has supported many local charitable organizations, including The Home, and provided them with generous financial contributions. As of May 1, 2000, The Home became the sole agency to benefit from the Thrift Shop, receiving 100% of its proceeds.
The Thrift Shop is operated by dedicated staff and a wonderful group of volunteers, some of whom have been working there for many years! As a result of their hard work and commitment to the children and families in the Boston area, The Thrift Shop has raised nearly $1 million for The Home through thousands of dollars in sales each year.

The Thrift Shop is a great place to find furniture, artwork, books, vintage designer clothing, jewelry, dishes, and more.
Moving, renovating or spring cleaning?
The Thrift Shop is also the perfect place to take your gently used items. They will gladly provide you with a donation receipt for tax deduction purposes. Desired items include furniture, household items, framed art, and collectibles. Also accepting NEW toys.
