Southeast ACADEMY

Southeast Academy is a Massachusetts-approved Chapter 766 private school offering year-round educational treatment programs for youth aged 5 to 18. Located on 53 acres in rural Plymouth, it comprises elementary, middle school, and high school classrooms addressing, educational, psychological, and behavioral challenges with the goal of improving academic success, enhancing social and life skills and returning students as quickly as possible to a less intensive educational setting. This is accomplished by providing comprehensive educational instruction, as well as social and recreational opportunities that meet or exceed state and federal standards and are tailored to each student's individual learning ability and style.

To assist students to become more active learners and make substantial academic gains, Southeast Academy provides a year-round engaging and comprehensive program focused on education, career development, recreation/fitness, and an individualized therapeutic approach. These areas of focus are essential in helping students build self-esteem and become active members of their communities by reducing academic and behavioral regression, promoting positive social skills, and providing exercise and fun.

Highlights of the program include:

      • Separate elementary, middle and high school tracks in accordance with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks 
      • Project-based cross-curricular academic learning 
      • Credit accrual and credit recovery options 
      • Individual and small group instruction based on academic needs and IEPs 
      • Core classes include reading, English Language Arts, science, social studies, history, mathematics, health, and art 
      • MCAS/PARCC material incorporated into daily academic work 
      • Vocational and prevocational instruction in carpentry, culinary arts, and administrative office work 
      • Elective classes include art, cooking, music production and fitness, all of which include a writing component 
      • Clinical Services 
      • Social skills curriculum incorporated into the classroom as well as psychoeducation class 
      • College planning and preparation 
      • Clinical staff on site five days per week and on call 24/7 
      • Family involvement
      • Wide variety of onsite engaging and fun recreation/fitness activities

Southeast Academy is a Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)-approved and Department of Early Education and Care (DEEC)-licensed residential special education school for youth aged between 7 and 18.
